I've expanded on this character design and created a 3D model using ZBrush and Maya.
I sculpted the head in ZBrush, transferred the model to Maya for retopology and created the full interior of the mouth.
The rest of the body will be modeled in Maya, polypainted in ZBrush and then rigged for animation.
